Project Scorpio Page Goes Live at Microsoft Store

By | 3 hours ago

The official listing does not allow customers to pre-order at this time but fans can sign up to be notified by email when the product becomes available and can also add Project Scorpio to their Microsoft Store wish list.

The information about the console itself is kept to a minimum, in line with the marketing message we’ve heard so far from Microsoft. The official product description claims that Scorpio is:

  • The most powerful console ever with 6 teraflops of graphical processing power
  • The first and only console to enable true 4K gaming and high-fidelity virtual reality
  • Compatible with all Xbox One games and accessories

The page also has a link to Scorpio’s official unveiling video from E3 2016, which you can view above. As for this year’s E3, Microsoft confirmed its pre-show press conference will take place at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 11, starting at 2 p.m. PST. The confirmation via Twitter used an official Scorpio image so it’s pretty clear the system is going to dominate Microsoft’s E3 this year.

Of course, that doesn’t mean gamers will have to wait until June to get more information about the powerful console. Xbox head Phil Spencer has been teasing progress on Scorpio over the last few months, and it’s likely Spencer, who is quite active on social media, will probably let a few new details slip between now and E3 2017. Gotta keep that hype train moving, after all.

In short, Scorpio’s Microsoft Store page may not bring us any closer to knowing the console’s release date or price, but it’s at least nice to see that things are apparently still on schedule. The Xbox One has reportedly moved at least 26 million units so far, but if Microsoft wants to catch Sony’s 50 million and counting with the PlayStation 4, Project Scorpio is going to have some work to do.
